Do a small project each month in class to learn a new technique, experience a new trick, and try out a new design. If you are new to embroidery, this is the place to start. We will discuss stabilizers, needles, threads, hoops, and designs.

January 27 - The Basics:
Learn what the most appropriate tools are for embroidery – stabilizers, needles, sprays, battings, threads. Understand the different formats for each machine brand, learn how to transfer a design to your machine, how to manipulate the size, and add other design elements.

February 24 – Design Positioning:
Learn how to position your designs with accuracy and confidence. Prepare and mark your fabric for placement, or use the tools in your specific machine to check the correct position such as a scanner, camera, trial key, or needle position.

March 31 – Machine Appliqué in the Hoop:
Learn all the tricks to beautiful looking appliqué with cotton, wool felt, Fireside, etc. Discover the choices in fusible products and the different requirements for cutting manually with scissors compared to using a cutting machine such as a Scan N Cut.

April 28 – Adding texture:
Learn how to create texture through background quilting, motif fills, decorative threads, Texture Magic, mylar. Explore the choices we have to embellish our designs and make them unique.
